Dr. Shriro worked as a research fellow for the Harvard University School of Nutrition long enough for him to decide that his interest was truly in Clinical Medicine. He has since been a clinician at East Oakland Veterinary Hospital and presently, along with Dr. Benjamin, owns and operates the Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital.
Dr. Shriro served as President of the Alameda County Veterinary Medical Association for two terms and served as Alameda County peer review and ethics chairman for 24. Dr. Shriro also serves as President of the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society, and is City of Berkeley Humane Commissioner.
Chief interests outside of work include amateur mycology and a passion for scuba diving.
His favorite dive buddy is Lorna Patton Brown, a prominent criminal defense attorney and his wife of 18 years. Together, they dive and travel the world whenever possible. Dr. Shriro is an award winning photographer and some of his work can be seen in his exam room.
