Dr. Priscilla Shimura

Dr. Priscilla Shimura is a dedicated veterinarian with over 20 years of clinical experience, specializing in emergency medicine, surgery, dentistry, ultrasound, and quality of life care. She is deeply committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based medicine at every stage of a patient’s life.

Dr. Shimura holds a PhD in microbiology and immunology and completed a formal residency in public health. She is an ABVP (American Board of Veterinary Practitioner) candidate in both Internal and Emergency Medicine and maintains multiple certifications, including Cat Friendly Practice, Palliative Care, Fear Free Practice, CPR – Recovery, and the Foundation Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care (FCert(E&CC)).

Her clinical interests include patient care, feline medicine, internal medicine, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, and supporting quality of life through palliative care. She is especially passionate about client communication, working closely with families to navigate complex medical decisions with empathy, clarity, and compassion.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Shimura has contributed to scientific research in infectious disease, gastrointestinal health, and nutrition, earning multiple research grants and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Shimura enjoys spending time with her four beloved pets: Simba, a chow/shepherd mix; Miguel, a tabby cat; Luna, a Siberian husky; and Kichi, a tuxedo cat. She believes that veterinary medicine is ultimately a calling rooted in love, patience, and the privilege of caring for animals and their families.
